Abstract With the publication of Husserliana series and Heidegger’s Gesamtausgabe both nearing completion, a strikingly different picture their work than was available to earlier generations is emerging. It has become quite clear that phenomenological philosophy not fixed “system” but an ongoing philosophical practice much contribute debates in contemporary generally. would be impossible here canvass all “horizons” phenomenology this situation opened up, so chapter I will focus on one issue Husserl considered Grenzproblem his phenomenology, namely, relation between transcendental-phenomenological method (the “reduction”) metaphysics. Section 1 presents overview my understanding transcendental as concerned specifically with clarifying issues normatively structured meaning ( Sinn ). 2 argues metaphysically neutral considers ambiguity Husserl’s Ideas suggests possibility it actually metaphysical idealism – specifically, claim real things “depend” consciousness for existence. 3 takes up three accounts dependence-question only them full account own views Finally, section 4, argue “monadology” based dialectical arguments rather evidence, suggest thus becomes antinomical mirror-image Theodore Sider’s realism.
